Sawyer & Sage
UX Design // Branding
For this project I collaborated with San Francisco-based hairstylist, Jen DeFiglio, to develop her online storefront, Sawyer & Sage. The goal was to use Shopify to create a platform to sell hair care products directly to her customers. We worked closely to establish a brand identity that highlights the organic, ingredient-focused nature of Jen’s product offerings. I then worked with Shopify’s tools to build out the extensive product collection and implement a tagging system that enhances the site’s searchability and streamlines the creation of collections. The resulting website creates a personalized shopping experience for Jen’s clients, the opportunity for her to expand her audience, and share her expertise.
Initial Proposal
After getting an initial understanding of her vision for the brand and website, I crafted this proposal that outlines the scope and design direction. Using this presentation we were able to refine the website’s structure and further hone in the look and feel of the brand.

Product Imagery and Collections
Designing a visual system for the product images and collections was a critical part of defining the look and feel of this website. I created custom product images using the base images provided by Davines and adding different colored backgrounds and shadows. We felt that this addition both visually elevated the look of the products and provided a helpful way to differentiate between the many product collections. I also created a visual system to represent the different product collections and Jen’s own custom collections. I overall worked to create a color palette and visual style that worked with the product packaging and is colorful and fun while also remaining sophisticated and natural.
